I have been painting for more than thirty years. I have led a nomadic lifestyle, worked as a writer/editor and more recently as a life coach, but always enjoy returning to my first love: creating portraits of clients and their beloved animals.

Painting a portrait of a very elderly dog presents challenges. Does the client want me to be accurate but perhaps not very flattering, or to endeavour to capture the essence of the animal and remember its younger self? Happily, this picture, created using many different photos, was received with enthusiasm!

The first few weeks of the year were written off by Covid (I was hospitalised for nine days with Covid pneumonia) so it was a joy to get my brushes out and complete my first commission of the year!
Do you have, or know of, a teenage girl being bullied, and desperately want to help? I admit I would want to use physical violence against the perpetrator but I have a better, more effective and arguably more acceptable (!) suggestion... A number of years ago I met Gemma Marks when we both trained to be life coaches. She's much younger than I am, very down to earth and we quickly became friends. I was blown away by her intuition, compassion and her ability to cope with difficult situations. She has a vast amount of experience and qualifications and is focusing on helping teenage girls cope with bullying. Being bullied is hateful and can do life-long damage. If you know anyone being affected, please put them in touch with Gemma. I can't recommend her more highly. She is an extraordinary young woman and a real force for good.

Desperately sad to read that Miranda's beloved dog Peggy died recently. Many of us have been lucky enough to have incredible connections with our pets but Miranda's bond with Peggy always seemed uniquely special. Sending big hugs to @realmirandahart and to anyone who has recently lost a beloved furry friend. π
What a bizarre year it's been! Wishing all our fab family and friends the happiest possible Christmas in these strange times. We're isolated with the family in varying degrees of health, but send our love, very best wishes and festive snogs to you for an excellent, happy and healthy 2021. Another nail biting final of @britishbakeoff! Disappointing for Dave but Peter showed class throughout. Sad it's over for another year but the show had never been more welcome. Total warmth, fun and escapism in these strange times.
